WEBSTER, Mass., August 28, 2018 – MAPFRE Insurance today announced a $10,000 donation to the American Red Cross of Central Massachusetts (ARCMA) to support its Disaster Relief fund, in response to the tornado that struck Webster August 4. The donation will be used to help the 43 individuals who were displaced by the tornado, and other people whose lives are affected by devastating events.
“When a tornado, fire or flood takes a house, it takes everything that makes that house a home,” said Erin Ryder, Regional Philanthropy Officer, ARCMA. “MAPFRE has stepped forward to bring dignity, help and hope to the Webster families affected, as well as others displaced by disasters in our area.”
MAPFRE’s $10,000 donation will help the local American Red Cross provide emergency shelter, meals, clothing, toiletries and other necessities to those impacted. It will also hasten victims’ recovery, as the Red Cross helps them replace lost possessions, navigate insurance and process the emotional loss often felt by victims of natural disasters.
“MAPFRE is proud to support the American Red Cross in its mission to help neighborhoods rebuild after disasters,” said MAPFRE USA President and Chief Executive Officer Alfredo Castelo. “We are committed to our communities and efforts that support their recovery and sustainability.”
