What Does Full Coverage Car Insurance Consist Of?

Everyone needs car insurance to ensure that they are protected when out on the road. However, there are a number of different types of car insurance policies. One popular type of car insurance is referred to as “full coverage” which typically includes liability, comprehensive and collision coverage.

Let’s take a closer look at the different types of car insurance coverages out there and the advantages that come with choosing full coverage for a vehicle.

Understanding Car Insurance Policies and Coverage

There are lots of different types of insurance coverages for a vehicle which offer various levels of protection for those driving the car and anyone who may be involved in an incident or collision with it. Here are just a few of the different coverages available:

  • Liability Coverage
  • Comprehensive Coverage
  • Collision Coverage
  • Medical Payments Coverage

Liability coverage is important since it covers injuries and property damage sustained by another person in an accident for which the driver of your auto is legally responsible.

Medical Payments coverage pays for expenses that relate to essential funeral or medical services for both the driver and any passengers of the vehicle, should an accident occur.

Collision coverage pays for any accidental and direct damage to your auto that occurs as the result of a collision.

Comprehensive coverage ensures that any accidental and direct damage to your auto other than damage caused by a collision is covered which may include damage caused by wind, fire, flood, theft, vandalism, hail, contact with an animal or other incidents.

There are several other types of car insurance coverages available with MAPFRE, including optional coverage for substitute transportation in the event of the vehicle being out of action due to an accident and a rental car being required while your auto is being repaired or replaced. Towing and Labor coverage ensures that the costs of towing and recovery of a vehicle after an accident can be recovered, while uninsured motorist coverage provides protection in the event of an accident with a driver who has no or insufficient insurance coverage to pay bodily injury damages (and, in some states, property damage) for which they are legally responsible.

What Does Full Coverage Include?

Generally, full coverage usually offers the most protection for you and your vehicle. Although it depends largely on the insurance company, full coverage typically covers the driver, their passengers, their vehicle and damage or injuries they cause others in an accident.

Some of the elements typically covered by a full coverage car insurance policy include:

  • Windshield Cover
  • Deer Accidents
  • Hail Damage
  • Fire Damage
  • Theft
  • Vandalism
  • Flood Damage
  • Fallen Tree Damage

If you want to take out the highest level of protection for yourself and your vehicle, full coverage policies are the best choice because they protect against the widest range of potential incidents and occurrences, whether the car is on the road or parked in a garage.
