Steps to a Personal Injury Protection (PIP) Claim

Regardless of who is at fault for the accident, Personal Injury Protection (PIP) is the first medical coverage used for accident related injuries. Massachusetts requires every personal auto policy to carry PIP. PIP provides up to $8,000 of coverage for the driver and occupants of the vehicle involved in the accident, as well as injured pedestrians. Learn about Personal Injury Protection (PIP).

Reasonable medical and out-of-pocket expenses related to the injury. Lost wages up to 75% of your average weekly gross income. Reasonable payments to anyone outside your household for services you are unable to perform due to an injury such as house cleaning, child care, lawn services, etc.

Complete and return the PIP application as soon as possible. With your signed authorization, MAPFRE Insurance will request records to support the bills. Where applicable, MAPFRE Insurance will confirm salary and time missed from employment.

Medical records and bills submitted by your treating physician or facility will be reviewed for payment upon receipt. Payment for lost wages will be processed upon confirmation from your employer and a disability statement from your doctor. MAPFRE Insurance works with your health insurance company to ensure we pay our portion of your related costs.
